The first thing that comes to mind is the actually email address entered in the input field is not valid.
Have you tried using different email addresses?
If you are still experiencing the problem is there any chance you could flick over a URL to a test page?
I’ve just installed the plugin and get the same message with a valid email address.
What else could be the problem?

I have managed to replicate the issue. I have fixed it locally and will be pushing the fix live in the morning after a couple more tests.
